Well, today is my last day at work in El Paso. During the last week it has been pretty hectic. Yesterday, the packers came over and packed everything. So all my stuff now are in boxes... including my webserver. So Mintrix.net would be down for a while. I don't have a place in Ephrata so.... we will see. I am still waiting for my exit interview. I have not heard anything yet.
Oh man... I am so stuffed. Today, my former manager/director invited me to Todai for lunch. I don't think I have gone there since about 3 years ago, when we moved my sister to Houston. Anyway, as my good friend, Raymund G says, "All you can eat sushi buffet is like a casino, you can try all you want but you can never beat the house." And you know what, I think he is right... I definitely did not beat the house to day. But the food was good and we had a lot of fun. Man... I am starting to miss Houston already.
I know alot of you are wondering where exactly is Min moving to... and what does it look like over there in central Washington? Well, take a look for yourself.
Wow... What a cool weekend.... I guess I should write more during the weekends as well... humm.... It is like, when I am on a break my blogs go on a break too. Well, this is the starting of the last full week of work in El Paso and the funny thing is that I will have to stay late everyday this week... but I will try to see if I can change that. So what happened this weekend? Well, humm... no Auburn game on Saturday, so I watch the Tenn Vs UF game in Two Rows in rice village with my good friend Johnson. After that I caught up with my HS buddies in Houston, I can't believe I've know my HS friends for over 10 years, WOW!!! Sunday was pretty interesting. I want to a mass in a black neighborhood church in fifth ward Houston... it was strange at first, because I was the only Asian guy there, but a mass is a mass. I have to say, their music was much better than the other places I been to. I was almost like going to a Sunday Jazz brunch, but you are actually at a catholic mass. Pretty cool, Pretty cool....
Lets see ... Yesterday was Scott's last day... he is starting work in LA on Monday. So we went to get something that he probably can't get in LA... good ol' southern BBQ at Thelma's BBQ. Boy... let me tell you ... I was stuffed. I don't think I can keep my figure if I keep eating like this. Well, it was a sad evening seeing my friend go. It is a fore shadow of what's to come..... We will see in 1 1/2 weeks.

Very exciting news!!! Someone actually send me an email and comments on Minotaur, my layer 2 traceroute script. It was my intention from the start to write this script so that not only one network can use it but everyone that has the need can use it. Yep, Yep, someone is actually using it outside of my company... cool.....
So... what's all the secrecy all about for the last couple of days/ weeks, well, the truth is I've recently got a job offer from Grant County PUD as a telecommunications engineer. So where is Grant County? Grant County is in the middle of Washington, near the Columbia River. I will be working in a town called Ephrata, WA. Well, it is a really small town. The town only has about a 1.5 miles radius. It has a total population of around 7000 people. Grant County has about 75000 people. To make a point, you can fit everyone in Grant county in Jordan Hare stadium and still have empty spaces. See, it is a small town.
Well, so what's the big news??? Well, today around 8:00 am I turned in my resignation letter. Yep I am resigning my position in El Paso Corp. There are going to be alot of interesting events in the next couple of weeks. I will post more stuff as it unfolds.
I had a weird dream last night.... I had a really weird dream about meeting all my high school friends. They are a bit older... but I can still recognize them. It was really strange. I think we were at some big event. and even my girlfriend was there too. I also had a dream of going in to my boss' office and telling him that I... but wait .. I should post that tomorrow.
Today is a pretty cool day. Auburn Won 45-7 against Vandy. Finally... we won a game. Finally we scored a touchdown. Well, anyway... today we also had a small party for Hsiu Hsiu... her birthday is on the 16th and since I am not here then, we had a party tonight. It was pretty good. She is very very excited and happy... I am glad to see her happy and I love to see that beautiful smile. I will post some more pictures later... but I am just too tired right now. Good night!!
Something very important happened to me today... but I can't share it yet. in 5 days , I will share it with everyone and let you guys know what's going on. Just trying to work out some kinks.
So... I heard something interesting from my boss yesterday... Well.. while we were finishing up the cabling yesterday, after talking sometime about his former career in the Navy, he said "... there were times that I felt really down while I was in the Navy, then I just have to think that ... hey... at least I am not in prison... then it make me feel better. I guess there are worst places I could be then the Navy." Well... I guess to cheer me up I have to think that ... hey at least I am not in prison.... and at least I still have a job... right? Well... back to work....
So how's everyones weekend? Well, mine is ok... it is Sunday and I am here at work. We are moving one of our core switches. Fun Fun right? Ok .. it is actually not too bad. It is a good way to test our fail over as well. Anyway... so far my weekend has been ok. Let see ... Auburn lost to Ga. Tech. yesterday. I don't know what is wrong with them. Whatever it is, they need to start playing some football. So last night after the game I drove to Sugarland to play vollyball with some co workers. Man... I have not played vollyball since like my jr high school PE class. Needless to say... I sucked. but I did get one spike, couple of saves, and a jammed finger. All in all, it was pretty fun. So the fun continues... I will write more tonight... if I remember.
Can you believe it... it is Friday again. I guess this is a very short week. Yep, last night my buddies Scott and Wendy and I went out to celebrate, because Scott got a job in LA. Woo hoo? so we went to this wonderful restaurant called Mangos on Westheimer. The food there is cheap and very good. It is also very classy. Afterward, we went over to my house and played some classic video games. Yep I got a SNES emulator for my dreamcast. Or as Scott puts it, we were playing on an outdated gaming system to play an even more outdated games. At one point, we were playing on a SNES emulator game that emulates an NES game. So what is that game???... the original SUPER MARIO BROTHERS of course. What I can?t believe is that we use to love those games. Oh well? They are still fun to play every so often.
Well, I forgot to set my alarm clock after the power outage last night. I got up late so I am late now....DOH!! But the cool thing is that I found an open AP at the metro bus stop. I don't know why I did not find it before but I am using it now. I love big cities... there are open AP's everywhere.... Ain't technology great??
Doh... I was wrong... I've always though my house is on the same power grid as the hospital, but today I found out that I am not on that grid, but my neighbors across from me are. Well, I guess you figure it out. I am sitting in the middle of a power outage with a flash light and my laptop using someone else's wireless and trying to call the power company. it is actually pretty need really. But ... I think it will just get hotter and hotter in the house. EEK!!!
Well... I hope the power comes back soon. I guess this is what it was like couple weeks ago in New York ... huh?
I been hearing the term "86ed" alot lately... so I am curious, what does it mean and where did it come from?? I look around the net and here is what I found...
eightˇy-six or 86 (âšt?-sîks?) verb, transitive
eightˇy-sixed or 86ˇed eightˇy-sixˇing or 86ˇing eightˇy-sixˇes or 86ˇes
Slang.
1. To refuse to serve (an unwelcome customer) at a bar or restaurant.
2. a. To throw out; eject. b. To throw away; discard.
[Perhaps after Chumley's bar and restaurant at 86 Bedford Street in Greenwich Village, New York City.]
I think there are bunch of origins... so I don't know which is real... so what do you think?
Yeah... I been out of the blog scene for over a week now... but alot of thing has happened. I do not feel like share some of it right now. Not yet. But there are couple of interesting things that happened to me yesterday. First, I got spammed on my tag board by some neo nazi group. But as soon as I found out... they got banned and their entries were removed. Second, I submitted my Minotaur Project to hotscripts.com. The cool thing is that I am starting to get hits of people looking at my scripts. The count jumped from 30 to 60 in one day. WOW!!! Third... I got my first donation yesterday... woo hoo.... you can read more about it on the sponser page...when I get it setup.
Got to get to work now.
