Just finish lunch with the coworkers at GW9. It was pretty good.
Well... surprise surprise... I am at Greenway 9 sooner then I expected. My new boss came by and told me that that needed some help and see if I can go over there to help them out. I said no problem.. so here I am sitting in my new "OFFICE" enjoying the view. Yes! it is actually an office not a cube!!!! Woo hoo! I will have to get my digital camera and take a picture of the view from my new office. I have a perfect view of downtown... It is not 28th floor ... but 12 th floor with no obstructions will be just fine.
Well... it is a new week and probably my last week in the downtown office. I try to think positive but there are just so many bad thoughts coming to my mind the more I think about work. I guess ... like the Oracle says ... "try not to think to hard... have a cookie, by the time you finish the cookie you will have forgot about all of this."
You know what? the more I think about it the less I want to think about it. Well, it is about the whole work thing. changes changes and more changes.... only thing I can say is ... I only need one...
I just got back from dropping off my girlfriend at the airport. I am so sad now :-( But the good news is that I will be back in Auburn on Thursday so that means it is not that many days before I will see her again... woo hoo.
So last night we went to an Astros Rangers game. Astros lost to the Rangers 8 to 4 I think. But it is still a good game. I mean for 4 hot dogs 4 20oz drinks and 2 caps plus 4 tickets for 48 bucks... it is not bad....
We all had a lot of fun. I will try to post some pictures today.
Well.. Huge layoff today, over 200 people from the Houston area. Our department lost 3 people in Houston. I still have a job... but I am moving to Greenway 9.... on the bright side is that I will have an office, no more cubes, ... woo hoo!!! with a window too!!! yep yep... we will see how it goes...
Lunch today was pretty good... since tomorrow is the big cut day... today we all went out to Bongo's and told our friend Richard out for lunch. Bongo's is a pretty good place. Very nice setting and the food is not bad either. Just a few more hours and I get to see my girlfriend... Woo hoo!!!
Well... the following should be a post for yesterday... but since Blogger was updating my blogs to the new version of blogger... I was not able to post... so... here it is.... once again... this was yesterday during lunch....
Well, an interesting event happened today around lunch. My friend and I were in the break room having lunch talking about worldly events and trivia facts when one of my friends decided to check in the freezer again. There is a one gallon bucket of ice cream that has been sitting in the 4th floor freezer for over 2 weeks. My friend looked in the freezer saw the bucket of ice cream, took it out and put it on the table and said, ?? the ice cream is still here? We have had many conversations about this bucket of ice cream and could never figure out who?s ice cream it was. So in the back of our minds, we decided that who ever left the ice cream probably has forgotten about it, so it should be fair game. I mean, the ice cream has been in the freezer untouched for 2 weeks. So right at that moment, I leaned over and too the top off the ice cream, while my other friend start scooping the ice cream in to a foam cup. We figure, they won?t miss a little ice cream. Right when we are working on the second round of ice cream a lady walks into the break room and headed straight for the freezer, opened it, looks in and walked right out and said that she was from the concierge service. We were a little bit confused about her actions but did not really think much of it. About 30 minutes later, my friend walks by and said, ?Hey, there is a sign up on the Ice Cream that says compliment of the concierge service.? OOPS? does this mean that the ice cream was theirs? I mean how did they know that we were eating it? I was feeling kind of bad. After talking a while with my buddies, we decided to go visit the concierges and apologies for our crime of stolen ice cream. When we got there, I walked in and said, ? uh? we are here to apologies for eating the ice cream you guys had on 4th floor?? eek? it was tough to say?.but I spilled it out. Then all the sudden the concierges were laughing and said, ?don?t worry about it? the ice cream was for you guys anyway. Every so often we have an ice cream float treat for each floor and the ice cream that was left in your freezer was for that purpose?. By that time it was already too late, my friends and I were already super embarrassed. And everyone was just laughing. So? after all that? I think we need some more ice cream? don?t you think???
For all you Quake 3 fans and for all you Gundam UC fans... here is a site that joins them together.... go check it out... I think it is still in the works but the idea is pretty cool. http://www.oywq3.com
Well... I did not go home today for lunch... It was too wet outside to walk back home. but the site came back anyway... it was just some small outage with the Internet provider.... so all is good....
humm... Something is wrong with my server or my network connection at home? all the suddent I can't get to it any more. Why?? I guess I have to make some change in plans for lunch.
UPS SUCKS! I had an interesting run with UPS yesterday. For some reason, our UPS delivery guy would not drop the package off? Even after we sign and release all the responsibilities from UPS they still would not drop it off. So yesterday afternoon, my sis and I drove to the UPS center after work. It took us around 30 + mins because of the traffic and trying to find the place. Anyway, after we got to the UPS Center, they told us that "oops, your package is still on the truck and it hasn't come in yet." That is after we called them and asked them if we can go an pick it up. Stupid UPS. After we got home, I call them and complained, and they had the nerves to hang up on me... but finally, I did get my complains in at their national call center. Yep all that for a stupid package that we have not even got yet.
Go RICE Owls for winning the College World Series!!!! The game last night was a total blowout. An amazing game!!! Once again ... Go Owls!!! ... So why am I cheering for the Owls? Why because that's my little sis's school.
For those of you that don't like cartoons and anime's , well, you might not like this series... but if you can get over the fact that this is not live action and it is still a very graceful film then you will love this new series that I am watching. The series is called LAST EXILE. The setting is gorgeous. The story is in an alternate world, were everything is still in the 1800?s industrial setting. The physics in this world is different and they have these wingless airplanes, called van ships. Take a look at the brief synopsis here.
"Today is gonna be the day
That they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realised what you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now
Backbeat the word is on the street
That the fire in your heart is out
I'm sure you've heard it all before
But you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody feels
The way I do about you now
And all the roads we have to walk are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would
Like to say to you
But I don't know how
Because maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me?
And after all
You're my wonderwall
Today was gonna be the day?
But they'll never throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realised what you're not to do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do
About you now
All the roads that lead you there are winding
Ail the lights that Iight the way are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
But I don't know how
I said maybe
You're gonna be the one who saves me?
And after all
You re my wonderwall
I said maybe
You're gonna be the one who saves me?
And after all
You're my wonderwall
I said maybe
Your gonna be the one that saves me
Your gonna be the one that saves me
Your gonna be the one that saves me"

Today is the big day... today is the day that El Paso decides to keep or remove it's current board members. 2:00 pm is the time. Besides that.... everything is ok... I think I will finally update something on my website today. I will added some more pictures and maybe a resume and a project section to my website. Stay tuned for more details....
So today is my El Paso Corp anniversary. Can you believe it? Another year has passed and I am still here. Today, I went lunch with my buddies to celebrate or try to forget about all that?s been going on, to think about what we will do from this point forward, but we ended up filling our stomach up with food and came up with not too much. There?s got to be more?.
What the heck... again? 2:30 AM ... I am up to check on a network problem... anyway... thank god for wireless and vpn and a laptop... yep I am able to do everything and not get out of my bed. Now, I am going back to sleep. Good night everyone... oh ... please rain .... rain hard... so I can sleep tomorrow mornig... oh and don't flood Houston.
Well... Today is Friday the 13th... there are rumors about layoffs today as well... will it be just another day? or will it be a bloody Friday the 13th???
Ok... I just remember one of my dreams from last night. I had a dream that I was dividing by zero and I was keep on getting errors. Duh... so I solved it... at least in my dream, by using a very small number instead of zero. But what does this dream mean??? What does it mean??
I like summer... in fact... I love summer... Why? Well... longer day light of course. Take today for example, only during the summer will you get a 8:30 pm sunset. So what does this mean? Well, this means that after I get off work around 5:30, I have about 3 hours of time to enjoy the sun and the outdoors. There are however a few thing I do not like about summer. 1) My girlfriend is not here to enjoy this extra day light time with me... this is not because of summer... but still... it sucks. 2) The heat and humidity... during the summer, Houston gets too dang hot and stuffy. Thanks God for AC. and Doh for the power bill....
Today is a tiring day, I moved a small tree my front yard from in front of my door to next to the other tree in my front yard. Actually it looks a lot better now. It seems like an easy task, but it actually took alot of effort. In order for me to get the tree out, I actually had to tie the tree to my car and pull it out that way. Replanting was much easier, but it still took alot of strength. Of course, Houston's 97 degree summer temperture did not help either. But at the end, I was able to move the tree to its new home and give my front yard a new look. I also made a new friend with my neighbor. cool... but I have to say... I am a bit tired.
Mintrix.net has been pretty much the same for about a year. It has been good. It is simple and clean. And I think I finally got a good process on the photo section. But somehow, I think my site is getting old and boring... maybe I should start a redesign. The problem is that takes alot of time and work. If I were to redesign the site, I would make it entirely modular... so I do not have to go to every page to change something when I make a change in the basic layout. Any one got any suggestions?
My umbrella did not help at all. I am all dripping wet right now from the weather. Houston is interesting; we have not had rain in over a month, and all the sudden it is flooding. I hope this is not a real flood. But the good thing is tonight at the game, we will be dry. Yep, Minutemaid park has a retractable roof..
Well, after 4 years of faithful service, last night I finally retired my freesco box. My freesco box was actually a 486 100mhz box with no cd rom drive and 32 megs of ram and a 40 meg harddrive. So in its place, I installed a D-link DI-614+ wireless router plus 4 build in switch ports. Actually, it was a lot better then I ever expected. I mean for $39 bucks (after rebate? which I have to remember to mail out) you can?t really beat that. I have to say that I am very impress with the capabilities of this little router. It will do all the port forwarding and even set firewall rules and port opening base on time of the day. If you wanted to be really cool you can even set a machine in a virtual DMZ. The only thing I don?t think it does is manages DNS?but then again, I may be wrong? I just have to play with it a little more tonight. As you can see, mintrix.net is now running behind this little 39 dollars box.
It has only been a week since I last saw Hsiu Hsiu. I talk to her every night, but still I miss her. {sigh} Long distance sucks. But anyway... it is another Monday and it is the first Monday of June 2003. We will see how this week will play out.
Well... I did not get home until 2:30 am last night. But it was ok... I caught up on my sleep this morning. As for the cold? Well.. I still have some cough but it is getting better.
Oh and one more thing... I miss you Hsiu Hsiu.
