Well... today is a big day... as of today, I am no longer in the El Paso's communications engineering department. I am now in the communcations operations supports great in downtown Houston. Yep... we will see how this will span out.
Ok enough about work... anyway... I had a wonderful time last night. Hsiu Hsiu and I went to the Museum of Fine Arts Houston last night with Scott, Wendy, and John. It was a lot of fun. We saw some interesting art works. I think we will have to go back some other time.
Ok ... I was wrong yesterday... it is today... I heard news that the hacking has already begun in Greenway Campus... I guess it is coming back to us this afternoon. We will see ... we will see...
Ah... what a wonderful time in New Orleans... I will try to post up the pictures soon. Anyway... I am back in Auburn now. I will be heading back to Houston tomorrow.
on the brighter note.... I confirmed our reservation for New Orleans this weekend. It should be pretty fun. I am looking forward to getting away from everything.
Well, I got all my stuff done today. It has been a busy day. My little sister is back in Houston now. Oh and I sold my other Sharper Image certificate as well. Yep, got some money now for spring break. So I cooked some Chinese Texas fajitas today, yep I cooked. My sis made some Spanish rice and we had a pretty good meal. So why is it called a Chinese fajitas? Well, it has all the stuff of a fajitas, except I marinade the chicken with soy sauce, sugar, and rice wine. I thought it was pretty good.
Anyway... it was pretty filling.
so...
4 more days.... EEEK!
It's the weekend... today I got so many things to do... I got to start now or else I will not be able to finish. Anyway.. I will write more tonight to tell you guys what's going on.
OK.... wish me luck!
It was another Friday of wireless sniffing. I got a chance to spend the afternoon with a Ernest Young security audit guy. He showed us some new stuff and we show him some new tricks as well. It was pretty fun. One thing though, he was not as amazing as I imagined... so it kind of put everything in perspective. Time to go home!
It has been an awful, awful lunch.... Well, as usual, today I decided to go home for lunch... so when I left for home, I had my work id and off I go. The weather was pretty wet but I figure, that's ok I will be home shortly. When I finally got home I realized that I am missing two very important things. First, I did not have my keys. Second, I don't have my work ID. So somewhere along the way, I have lost one or both of these items. Of course immediately, I started to back track. I was half way to the trolley stop, when the down pour starts. I started to run and caught the next available trolley. I looked on the trolley and did not find my ID. When I got back to the office, A there was my keys. GoodˇK that's one down. So I decided I would catch the next trolley and start looking for my badge. Ok to make the story shortˇK after 5 trolleys later and a wet Min. I decided to give up looking. When I returned to my office, Greg said, "You know, you probably should go and deactivate your old badge and see if you can get a new one.? So I did I followed his advice and went to get my old badge deactivated. To my surprise, the badge lady deactivated my badge, reprinted a new badge for me, and gave me a new badge pulley all within 5 minutes. Wow, that was fast. I guess, I should have done that from the start, instead of getting all wet in the rain. Oh well...
Wow... 100 mbps fiber access to your door for 39.95 / month.... drool....Woow...... that sounds pretty good.... but only in Washington State though and they limit the monthly total bandwidth usage.... but still....
Well... today started pretty crappy... I mean I thought Knoppix was going to save my day... but this morning when I got in to the office... the wireless portion just doesn't work right? "... I swear it works last night...." So... I think I will wait for the 3.2 version to come out this week and try it then. In the mean time, I will try to figure out why it is not working and see if I can make a custom version.
I can't believe this... they are making everything in to a TV show now. Even office life? Well, I guess it could be kind of funny... sorta like Office Space right? Which btw is one of my favorite movies.
I know... I am going on about Knoppix... but it is really really cool... I am using it right now... all the wireless cards are automatically detected. The only problem I have right now is still getting the network scanning stuff working. Cool stuff. Let me know what you guys think... post it on the comment below.
OK ... I think I have found my answer!!!! KNOPPIX is the key.... my gosh... if you never used Linux before ... here is your chance... you don't have to sign any commitment, if you don't like it .. hey pop out your cd and reboot your pc and it is back to normal Windows. KNOPPIX is a fully loaded Linux system with an Office Suite, tools, and tons of other stuff all built in. Go download the ISO TODAY!!!!!!
another link to knoppix... this one is better.... more english.... cleaner
You know what? I don't know what is the deal... I mean ... because of the audit... all the sudden everyone is supper interested in the wireless scanning stuff. And all the sudden everyone wants a linux box to use Kismet. I guess it is a good thing that everyone is moving to the penguin side... but I wonder if everyone knows what they are getting into?
Today just flew by way too fast. I did not even have time to take a small break.... ok ok I did take a lunch break. So what's been going on? Wireless ... that's what's been going on. I don't know when ... all the sudden I am the wireless 802.11b guru... at least people in the company think so. Well... anyway... I am working with Warlinux... and other cd bootable linux, trying to find a way to have a very good wireless sniffer tool for a none linux user. yes yes... I know about netstumbler... it is easy to use ... but it does not provide with all the information that we reall what!!!
Any linux guru's out there that want to help??? ... boy ... I feel like I am back in college doing my OS project.
I love IM... I am in a middle of a meeting and with wireless and IM, i am able to ask questions and do some more research. So... anyone know how to make a custom bootable linux cd??
Secuity Audit sucks!! Well... currently we are going through a security audit. Basically, because of this auduit, everything has been locked down. I pretty much need to go through 10 people to do any work. Oh well... life goes on....
Couple of interesting news today from Slashdot.org... yeah ...I am still reading that site. :-)
1) Possible PS3 release in 2003? ... I personally think it is too early for a PS3 release.
2) A neat little modern operating system for C64, NES, 8-bit Atari, and other old school machines... it is called Contiki.
3) Microsoft Internship... I remember that one time I interviewed with MS in their Charlotte campus... it was pretty neat... but they are still very cocky little bastards.
and some other interesting articles... pretty good article day for slashdot.
I love the $2.99 lunch/dinner in Chinatow. The food is pretty good and with the drinks include... you just can't beat that. Well, let see couple of news.
1) 10 days left
2) mintrix.net has officially been transferred to godaddy.com... everything seems to still work.
People are just awful drivers. I am glad that I do not have to drive to work everyday or else I really think some one can go crazy with the way some people drive these days. For example, today I was in Chinatown trying to find a parking space, this full size truck pulls up in front of me and the guy rolled down his window and started talking to me. He was blocking everyone's movement in the parking lot. Finally, after repeated times trying to tell him to move on, I finally lowered my window and said, "What do you want? you are blocking traffic!!" And he replied, "Hey, look I do some car body work and I can fix your car body really cheap." He was referring to the dent I have on my camry, but I just don't think in the middle of the parking lot blocking everyone around him is the time to pick up some business. Well... anyway..... I have sent Min-Jye off to the Airport so ... I am back home again... I think I will take a nap.
Well, it is official... my domain has been transfered.... hopefully my DNS don't start messing up becaus of this. I think I will start hosting my own DNS sometime in soon in the future. Maybe around May.
Tag-Board is really messed up... it is causing my site to show up slower because of it. I think I will change it out and replace it with a home made one soon.
It is Friday and it is such a beautiful day outside. The sky is blue and the air is cool... but I am in the middle of the building sitting in a cubical. This sucks!
Well... couple more hours and I am off work. Hello weekend!!
Well... I got a bidder on my $80 Sharper Image Certificate. It is actually a pretty good deal. For 49.99, the bidder is taking home a $80 valued certificate. Cool.
But, there is still time ... if you are interested ;-)
Woo Hoo... I just sold 5 games for 65 bucks. Yes, Yes, it doesn't sound like a very good deal, but I don't think I would have gotten that much from ebay. M earlier bidder was only going to pay 50 bucks for the games... so it is not bad. I was going to sell them for 70 dollars, but since she was asking so nicely. I knocked down 5 bucks. I guess I am not a very good business man. Oh well... anyway... I got me some extra cash.
So what is Ash Wednesday? Well, click here and find out. But since today is Ash Wednesday their server seems to be overwhelmed so click here for google cache instead. I love google!!!
Well, just got back from Ash Wednesday mass. It was very interesting. I was surprised in how many Catholics there are in downtown Houston. Well, to make the story short, the mass was held in a small basement and it was completely packed. Good thing the fire marshal wasn't there ;-)
Well... I did not get much studying done last night... but I will definitely do it tonight!!
I think the verbal section is really, really hard. I think I will mainly concentrate on the quantitative and the analytical sections. BTW I am selling off my PS2 games if anyone is interested.
Well... I am in it now... 115 dollars in to the process.... So when is the big day? March 20th at 8:00am. I will have to be ther at 7:30.
So the count down begins now.
This weekend was great!!! I has a wonderful time. So what happened? Well, Hsiu Hsiu came down from Auburn to visit, and we ate well and got to head to Galveston yesterday with Johnson and Christina to see their version of Mardi Gras. I posted some pictures in the photo sections, about it check it out.
