An email from my friend Rick. I thought it was pretty funny.

THE COLLEGE THEME PAPER: HE VS. SHE

Remember the book "Men are from Mars, Women are from
Venus"? Well, here's a prime example offered by an
English professor at Arizona State University.

"Today we will experiment with a new form called the
tandem story. The process is simple. Each person will
pair off with the person sitting to his or her
immediate right. One of you will then write the first paragraph of a
short story. The partner will read the first paragraph and then add
another paragraph to the story. The first person will then add a third
paragraph, and so on back and forth.

Remember to re-read what has been written each time in
order to keep the story coherent. There is to be
absolutely NO talking and anything you wish to say
must be written on the paper. The story is over when
both agree a conclusion has been reached."

The following was actually turned in by two of my
English students: Rebecca -last name deleted, and Gary
- last name deleted.

STORY:
(first paragraph by Rebecca)
At first, Laurie couldn't decide which kind of tea she
wanted. The chamomile, which used to be her favorite
for lazy evenings at home, now reminded her too much
of Carl, who once said, in happier times, that he
liked chamomile. But she felt she must now, at all
costs, keep her mind off Carl. His possessiveness was suffocating, and
if she thought about him too much her asthma started acting up again.
So chamomile was out of the question.

------------------------------------------------------
(second paragraph by Gary)
Meanwhile, Advance Sergeant Carl Harris, leader of the
attack squadron now in orbit over Skylon 4, had more
important things to think about than the neuroses of
an air-headed asthmatic bimbo named Laurie with whom
he had spent one sweaty night over a year ago. "A.S.
Harris to Geostation 17, he said into his
transgalactic communicator. "Polar orbit established.
No sign of resistance so far..." But before he could
sign off, a bluish particle beam flashed out of
nowhere and blasted a hole through his ship's cargo
bay. The jolt from the direct hit sent him flying out
of his seat and across the cockpit.

-----------------------------------------------------
(Rebecca)
He bumped his head and died almost immediately but not
before he felt one last pang of regret for psychically brutalizing the
one woman who had ever had feelings for him. Soon afterwards, Earth
stopped its pointless hostilities towards the peaceful farmers of
Skylon 4. "Congress Passes Law Permanently Abolishing War and
Space Travel," Laurie read in her newspaper one
morning. The news simultaneously excited her and bored
her. She stared out the window, dreaming of her youth,
when the days had passed unhurriedly and carefree,
with no newspapers to read, no television to distract
her from her sense of innocent wonder at all the
beautiful things around her. "Why must one lose one's
innocence to become a woman?" she pondered wistfully.

-----------------------------------------------------
(Gary)
Little did she know, but she had less than 10 seconds
to live. Thousands of miles above the city, the
Anu'udrian mothership launched the first of its
lithium fusion missiles. The dim-witted wimpy
peaceniks who pushed the Unilateral Aerospace
Disarmament Treaty through the congress had left Earth
a defenseless target for the hostile alien empires who
were determined to destroy the human race. Within two
hours after the passage of the treaty the Anu'udrian
ships were on course for Earth, carrying enough
firepower to pulverize the entire planet. With no one
to stop them, they swiftly initiated their diabolical
plan. The lithium fusion missile entered the
atmosphere unimpeded. The President, in his top-secret
Mobile submarine headquarters on the ocean floor off
the coast of Guam, felt the inconceivably massive
explosion, which vaporized poor, stupid, Laurie and 85
million other Americans. The President slammed his
fist on the conference table. "We can't allow this!
I'm going to veto that treaty! Let's blow 'em out of
the sky!"

-----------------------------------------------------
(rebecca)
This is absurd. I refuse to continue this mockery of literature. My
writing partner is a violent, chauvinistic semi-literate adolescent.

-----------------------------------------------------
(gary)
Yeah? Well, you're a self-centered tedious neurotic
whose attempts at writing are the literary equivalent
of Valium. "Oh shall I have chamomile tea? Or shall I
have some other sort of FUCKING TEA??? Oh no, I'm such
an air headed bimbo who reads too many Danielle Steele novels."

-----------------------------------------------------
(rebecca)
Asshole.

-----------------------------------------------------
(gary)
Bitch.

-----------------------------------------------------
(rebecca)
Wanker.

-----------------------------------------------------
(gary)
slut.

-----------------------------------------------------
(rebecca)
Get fucked.

-----------------------------------------------------
(gary)
Eat shit.

-----------------------------------------------------
(rebecca)
FUCK YOU - YOU NEANDERTHAL!!!

-----------------------------------------------------
(gary)
Go drink some tea - whore.

Another day of work, but hey today my buddy Greg and I have made a break through. Woo woo... this will be soo cool... we will be able to provide backup connections to all of our field locations. Woo hoo!! and now for Min's Health report. So I been taking the antibiotic for a day now, I have seen some improvements, but it is probably mainly from the decongestion pill. The good thing is that I am not as dizzy as I was yesterday. The bad thing is that I still have some headaches. I should be better soon. I hope.

Time to go home!!

So I finally went to the Doctor today. It is kind of weird going to the doctor in the tunnels, especially when the clinic that I am going to use to be a women?s clinic only. Yep! I mean, I think they just recently added the ?men? to their signs so it now says Men and Women?s clinic. It felt really strange and uncomfortable with all the birth control brochures and women health literature everywhere in the waiting room. On top of all that, I believe I was the only male in that office for a while. Everyone in the waiting room were women, everyone in the staff were women, all the doctor tools even seems feminine. Eeek?..

So after a short and very informative wait? I now know everything about the latest birth control?. The doctor gave me a check up. She said that I probably have a sinus infection and gave me a prescription for some antibiotic and some decongestions pills. I hope this will take care of my dizziness. I guess I will let you know?.

As for Starcraft 2? Nope it is not Starcraft 2 but it is a console game base on the Starcraft Storyline.
It seems like a first person shooter, the initial graphics looks pretty cool.

I hate mosquitos. I was so tired last night so I decided to go to bed earlier... but there was an evil mosquito in my room. All night it ran sneak air raids on my body and all I could do is hide under my covers. Well, hiding under covers are all good until it gets too hot. When that happens, it stings away. Finally, I had enough around 4:50 am this morning. I finally saw it flying around slowly (it is because it was full of my blood). And SPLAT! I took care of it. So after a full night of suffering, Min 1 Musquito 17. But in the end ... I took care of it. Now what? should I go back to bed?

Happy Friday... and here is something from my friend Rigged....

It is my life in the cube.

Letterman's Top 10 Drawbacks to working in a cubicle ...

10. Being told to "Think outside the box" when you're in a @#$%?* box all day long.

9. Not being able to check e-mail attachments without turning around to see who's behind you.

8. Fabric cubicle walls do not offer much protection from any kind of gunfire.

7. That nagging feeling that if you press the right button, you'll get a piece of cheese.

6. Lack of roof rafters for the noose.

5. The walls are too close together for the hammock to work right.

4. 23 power cords, 1 outlet.

3. Prison cells are not only bigger, they also have beds.

2. When tours come through, you get peanuts thrown at you. ...

And the Number 1 drawback to working in a cubicle:
1. You can't slam the door when you quit and walk out.

Today is Sept. 11th. I know what I am about to say is probably what everyone is saying Today. "I can't believe it has already been 1 year." Everyone probably remember the exact moment when the unbelievable happened. But I still find it hard to believe, that is has been one year. So what have we accomplished in one year? We bomb the crap out of Afghanistan. It takes longer now to get through security every where than ever before. So what have I done personally? I moved to Houston. I sold my house in Birmingham. I got a wonderful new girlfriend. I am in the process or getting a new house in Houston. So what have YOU done in the last year?

Hopefully, I will also get the opportunity to take care of my INS problem. So, what happened this weekend? Hum... ok lets give you a brief overview. Auburn Won, Alabama lost, I finally got a chance to meet the Rice University's CSA, and the Houston Texan's beat the Cowboys. In between all that I went out with my friend Johnson for Dim Sum and Gundam model hunting.

So it is not a problem with my cable modem after all. I went home for lunch today and found out that my network at home still works but people can't get to mintrix.net. It took me but a second to figure out that Road Runner has changed the IP addresses on me. I think they had a major reengineering of their IP scheme. My Ip went from 24.x.x.x to 66.x.x.x that's a big change. So I updated my DNS info and now Mintrix.net should be back and running.

Well, It seems that my cable modem is down again. It's weird, lately, I been having problems with my cable modems going up and down. Maybe I should get a UPS, like my friend Trung suggested. So what happened yesterday? Well, I felt like one of those fish in the discovery channel. I had my mouth way open and the hygenist was cleaning my teeth. It feels like a Monday, but it is actually a Tuesday. Now, that's pretty cool. We all get a short week this week. Well, I got back yesterday before the Auburn USC game. Well, it was a very fun game to watch, but I just hate seeing Auburn Lose. For some reason it always seems that the announcers are cheering for the other team. So the score was 24/17 USC. That ok, Auburn was far from home for the first game. We will get better as we move along in the season. War Eagle!
